What is data leakage in the AI context?+
Data leakage describes information — such as personal data, trade secrets or internal documents — leaving the organization unintentionally and reaching external AI models or vendors. Typical triggers include text pasted into prompts, uploaded files or uncontrolled tool integrations.
How does data leakage typically occur with AI usage?+
Common paths: employees paste confidential content directly into a chat prompt, upload documents to a public tool, use private AI accounts, or work with tools whose processing location and training policy are unclear. Concrete risks depend on the vendor, contract terms and internal usage.
What is a PII filter and which data can it detect?+
A PII filter analyses text for personal data such as names, email and postal addresses, phone numbers, credit cards, IBAN, social security numbers and further configurable patterns. Which protective mechanisms can an AI gateway provide?+
